Day 1 - Arriving at Tokyo

(Photo: Kaiyi)

We left Changi Airport at 7am and arrived at Narita Airport at about 2pm in the afternoon. Delta Airline is a pleasant surprise. Cheap with pretty good service. The seat is a little hard though (reason: it's a floating devise and comes in handy when the life vest does not work during emergency). The inflight entertainment is fabulous. Well we don't get the still-playing-in-cinemas type of movies but most of them are pretty recent. Like Despicable Me, Bounty Hunter and such. As for the food, it's erm...well since when did an airline provide gourmet food that leaves us salivating over them. So let's just be grateful there's something to feed the hungry.

That's me with the backpack queuing for the ticket to the nearest station of our hotel. Keisei Main Line has a limited express train that cost 1,280 yen / pax and goes straight to our hotel. Compared to limo bus or the JR express train that cost 3,000 yen/pax, I rather walk a little and enjoy the scenery from train station to hotel.

The above link will tell you what line gets you from one place to another, with transfers and the train fare. As the whole of Tokyo is pretty well connected and served by different train service provider, there are usually more than one method to travel. This link offers good comparison.

This is inside Keisei Main Line, Limited Express train. It looks empty now. But it soon gets packed.

Another pleasant surprise! The hotel room is fantastic, with a fully automated toilet bowl that washes your bum and dries it.

Bonus! The balcony has the view of Tokyo Tower. Thumbs up!
