Day 4: Shinjuku

From Shinjuku station, we walked for a very long time to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office where the observatories are. Once out of Shinjuku station gantry, follow the sign and it will lead you to the building.

We saw Mt Fuji from afar. Can you spot it?

It's at the darkest orange part of the sky a tiny triangle. I have made a faint red circle around it.

Finally it's dinner time! According to my guide book, it listed the this restaurant (the one below the music school) as one of the must-trys in Shinjuku. It happened to be the same restaurant I went to when I first visit Japan, alone two years ago. We tried to figure out our way there based on my memory. We got lost a while and poured through the guide book for direction, only to find out that it was just right in front of us. Nothing was changed. Even the chef looked familiar. This was where I had my first taste of true blue Japanese ramen. It felt good to re-visit the place and to share it with my sister.

It's a small place with about five counter seats and 4 tables.

The counter where you can see the handwritten menu which we don't understand. The restaurant has English menu. Just ask for it by saying: "English menu" slowly.

The picture menu beats the English menu. Just point and order. I ordered the 2nd row, 1st  from left. Kaiyi ordered the 2nd row, 2nd from left. Then we also ordered a plate of gyoza. Just like most Japanese restaurants, ice water is free flow.

This is Kaiyi's. The best seller.

This is mine, the spicy one.

Verdict: Kaiyi's is super yummy!
