Day 2: Disney Sea (The only one in the world)

(Photo: Maggie)

It's a cloudy day. Thank God for no rain. After our American breakfast buffet at the hotel, we are all ready for DisneySea!

We have to take a train to Maihama first. A long walk to the train station. Perspired. How embarassing.

The shuttle train from Maihama to DisneySea. Do buy single trip ticket (250yen/trip) if you intend to stay in the park for the whole day. A return trip is just another 250 yen. If not the full day pass
is more worth it at 600 yen if you intend to take multiple rides on the shuttle train.

This is probably a tenth of the carparks in the park. We cannot imagine the number of people in the park. Hopefully more people will visit DisneyLand than DisneySea.

Finally! Tickets and maps all ready. Let's go!

We finally understood why Disney theme parks are so popular with kids. It's like you are in another world! The cartoon characters that you see on TV are now right in front of you to be hugged! The familiar Disney cartoon music fills the air. Are we on planet Earth?

Chip or Dale?

Halloween is round the corner and in Tokyo, it's big business. People dress up in Halloween costumes.

Read the map and plan where we want to go. Erm...I can't read map but Kaiyi can.
First ride:
JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH
It's a roller cost ride. We spent 110min queueing for the ride which lasted less than 5min. But it was all worth it.

Happy family!

We decided to visit the Underwater Kingdom to look for Ariel. The King greeted us at the entrance.

Ariel's home.
We skipped the rides in this section. Too kiddy.

That's what we are having for lunch. Not one each. We shared one.

Stitch. Where's Lilo?

We were so tired. After the first ride, we realised that we could have taken a fast pass and go back to the ride at a designated time. In the end we got fast pass for just one ride and queued for another ride for 110min. By then all fast pass option has ended. We had to queue for all the rides. (FYI: After getting a fast pass for a ride, you need to wait about 1.5hr before you can get another fast pass for another ride. You cannot get a 2nd fast pass for the same ride.)

Again it has gotten dark.

Everywhere we go, I am reminded of my 30th birthday on Halloween.

It started to drizzle again. We were both feeling cold, tired and hungry. We tell ourselves that we will not queue for the rides again. We should sit down and enjoy the shows in the park. Guess what? Shows are cancelled due to the rain.

We started queuing for our last ride. 110min of wait...
We don't know what the ride was about. We only know we have to be fit in order to take the ride.

We found out later that it was free fall ride. Ahh!!!

The rain finally stopped. We were treated with a water fountain show and a dazzling fireworks display.

We spent a total of 6 hours to queue and less than 10mins of ride. Well, at least I can say, I have been there, done that.
